Ebony's Dorm

Ebony opened her eyes to the blinding sunlight outside and got up to shut her curtains. She stopped when she noticed some students hanging out by the fountain and watched them. After a minute, she shook her head and shut the curtains and went back to bed.
She pulled out the picture of her and Cole and stroked Cole's face lightly. A shiver of pain ran down her spine as she heard him cry out her name as he died. She turned the picture facedown on her lap as flashbacks invaded her mind.
Her mother's dying face from across the village..."Ebony, run! Run!"
Her father being dragged into the shadows of a building, only his feet could be seen, twitching, and then dead...
Her brother, Cole, fighting for his life in the clearing...
She stopped right there and got up from her bed, shoving the picture back into her nightstand drawer and walking into her bathroom to shower and get ready for class.
She stepped out of the shower a few minutes later and screamed as she saw blood on the bathroom mirror reading: I'm coming, Ebony.
She gasped for air and ran out of the bathroom, throwing on a pale green T-shirt and loose blue jeans and grabbed her hightops, running out of the room, Shyro followed on all fours, looking concerned.

Ebony came back after class and slowly peeked into the bathroom at the mirror, horrified of what she'll find. The blood was gone and she only saw her reflection, her terrified eyes staring back at her as she twisted the front of her shirt in her hands, her knuckles whitening.
She sighed and left the bathroom and sat on her bed, still clenching her shirt. She reaches over to the floor under her bed and switches on her stereo, Numa Numa playing at a medium volume as she tries to calm down, covering her face in her wolf plushie. She sighs as a memory invades her mind of her and Cole...

She aimed her hand gun at the target, one eye open, her arm straight and her legs in a perfect stance. She fires at the target, blowing out the very center with no wobbling. She sighed, satisfied with the new weapon and clicks on the safety, putting it in her shoulder holster and, for the heck of it, pulls out her sawed-off shot gun and aiming it at a tree for a fairly large branch and fires. The whole branch flew backwards into the forest, spinning.
She jumped, yelping as Cole poked her extremely ticklish sides from behind. She turns around, glaring at him. "Cole, what are you doing? I could have shot somebody, let alone you!"
He laughed. "Relax, I timed it just right, and you didn't hit anybody, now did you?"
She sighed, frustrated. "I guess not."
He looked at her gun in the shoulder holster. "Browning 9mm. Very nice."
"Very good."
"Where'd you get it?"
"Kaotin gave it to me."
"I knew he was worried about you."
"What do you mean?"
He looked back up at her. "He gave you a brand new gun that would kill anything in one shot, and sliver safety glazer bullets. He loves you."
Heat rushed up in her face before she could even attempt to prevent it.
His eyes widened. "You love him back!"
"I certainly do not!"
"Denial."
"I am not denying anything. I'm stating the truth."
He laughed. "Calm down, Ebz, I was kidding. What's with you today?"
She sighed, rubbing her upper left arm. "I'm just worried about Maityhs is all. He's been gone for over a week now, killing vampires and I'm wondering if they've killed him. I don't want him to die. I love him."
He sighed and pulled her into a gentle hug. "He'll be alright, love. Just wait. You can't kill a whole coven of vampires in one night."
"Obviously."
He chuckled lightly and pulled away. "He'll come back. Don't you worry about anything. Come on. Mom made your favorite."
She sighed. "Hey, your birthday is tomorrow."
"Yeah. Anything important about it?"
She hit him in the chest playfully. "Duh. Of course it is."
He laughed. "Get me something cheap, or just make something."
"I already have a gift for you."
"Really? Then I can't wait to see what you got me."
She smiled and they walked into the house.

Ebony woke up with a jerk and glanced at the clock. Seven o'clock p.m. She had only been asleep for two hours. She got up and went to scavenge for something to eat.
